Pharmacological activity
Pharmacology and screening assays - In-vitro, In-vivo and Ex-vivo
Determination of activity using in-vitro methods like cells, cell line, enzyme,and in-vivo methods using rats, mice, rabbits and zebra fish disease models to test compounds for their activity. It determines potency and effective dose or effective concentration EC50 or ED50 of compounds so that we can rank order the test compounds based on their value in the biological system. Techniques to measure the enzyme or cell activity adopts absorbance, fluorescence, luminescence, ELISA, imaging to get their mechanism of action and activity. Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, cytotoxicity, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, cytotoxicity etc are determined for the test molecules. We use cell free as well cell based assays and use molecular mechanism to understand the role of gene and protein pathways (by separation of DNA RNA protein from tissues to study MOA). Disease induction in done in rats, mice rabbits and zebra fish to know the molecule effectiveness in the preclinical evaluation during drug development stage
